Registered School Continuing Education Programs syllabus must meet Yoga Alliance’s high Standards.

The programme must comprise of 85 hours in total (50 contact and 35 non-contact-hour).

Continuing Education can include Specialty Programs: Prenatal Yoga or Children’s Yoga must comprise of 80 hours contact and 5 non-contact hours.

Registered Yoga School Continuing Education Programs can only be presented by an Experience Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT). The requirements detailed below ensure that all trainees of a RYS receive training and instruction in the three educational categories for a minimum number of designated hours. Topics in this category could include, but would not be limited to:

Training Techniques: Contact hours in this category must be spent teaching in a yoga setting into which the student might be invited.

Teaching Methodology: Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting, correcting, instruction-cueing, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher

Practicum: A minimum of 30 hours must be spent teaching in a yoga setting into which the student might be invited.

The subjects may be chosen by the RYS based on their program’s focus. Below is a list of recommended Continuing Education Workshops a RYS can offer to yoga professionals:
* Yoga History and Philosophy.
* Yoga Therapy: Working with Injuries.
* Teaching Pranayama: Philosophy, Anatomy and Technique.
* Yoga and Ayurveda.
* Teaching Meditation.
* Children’s Yoga (specialty programme).
* Prenatal Yoga (specialty programme).
* Yoga for Seniors.
* Teaching Restorative Yoga.
